He has written chapters in a number of medical textbooks.

Russell Blaylock, M.D. not only compiles and edits Newsmax.com's Blaylock Wellness Report. He's also a nationally recognized board-certified neurosurgeon, health practitioner, author and lecturer, retired from practice.

Dr. Blaylock received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in 1971. He completed a surgical internship from 1971-1972 at the Medical University of South Carolina and was the first intern to serve on the nation.s newly created burn and trauma unit directed by Dr. Curtis Arts and Dr. John Moncrief, two of the most renowned authorities on the subject of burns and trauma in the world at that time.

From 1972 to 1977, Dr. Blaylock completed his neurosurgical residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. Along with Dr. Ludwig Kempe, Professor of Neurosurgery at the Medical University of South Carolina, he developed the transcallosal removal of intraventricular meningiomas. Dr. Blaylock presented a paper describing the transcallosal surgical technique to the Congress of Neurological Surgeons annual meeting in 1976.

Dr. Blaylock serves as the associate editor-in-chief or the Neuroinflammatory section of the journal Surgical Neurology International and as an editor of the Neuropsychiatry section of the same journal. He also serves on the editorial staff International Journal of Vaccine Theory, Practice and Research (IJVTPR).

He was board certified in clinical nutrition in 2007. For two years, Dr. Blaylock was a instructor for the certification program of the Foundation for Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine. Dr. Blaylock has written five books on medical subjects and chapters in six medical textbooks each of which he illustrated. He is the co-author of the book Cellular and Molecular Biology of Autism Spectrum Disorders. He also writes a monthly newsletter, the Blaylock Wellness Report as well as regular columns for other publications and websites. His latest book is the Liver Cure.

He is the 2004 recipient of the Integrity in Science Award granted by the Weston A. Price Foundation. He served on the editorial staff of the Journal of the American Nutraceutical Association for many years. He now serves as an associate editor-in-chief of the neuroinflammatory section of the journal Surgical Neurology International. He is also on the editorial board of the neuropsychiatry section of the same journal. He also serves on the editorial staff of the journal International Journal of Vaccine Theory and Practice Research (IJVTPR). He has written over 60 articles, most in peer reviewed journals on a number of subjects.
